Ruined fragments of early C18 west wing attached to left. Squared stone and ashlar. Tower has lead roof, house is roofless. Tower of 3 storeys stepped in at first floor. Chamfered plinth. South side: on ground floor a slit window; on first floor a large 2-light mullioned-and- transomed window with cinquefoil heads to lights, and left of this a smaller 2-light mullioned window with trefoiled heads; on 2nd floor a 2-light mullioned window with cinquefoil heads. Battlemented machicolated parapet on close-set triple-step corbels; higher round corner turrets on multi-moulded corbels; turret to left is higher still and flanked by square projections. North side: C19 doorway; 2-light mullioned-and-transomed window on 1st floor and smaller 2-light mullioned window on 2nd floor both with cinquefoil heads to lights. Garderobe chute. West side: (i.e. now within attached house) has a recessed centre section, and set within it a doorway with pointed arch and chamfered surround; on the 1st floor a Tudor-arched blocked doorway, and on the 2nd floor, largely covered by a C19 external stack, a pointed-arched doorway with chamfered surround. House of 2 storeys has original 2-storey porch with round-headed multi-mullioned doorway flanked by paired Tuscan columns; Middleton coat of arms above doorway in moulded frame and inscription above that; on 1st floor a 5-light mullioned- and-transomed window. Walling and windows to right of porch seem partly original; other external features of mid C19 in similar style. Attached to north side of tower is a 2-storey barn, altered C18 and C19 but largely of medieval masonry. It has, on east side, a blocked 2-light mullioned window and several blocked small C16 windows; on the west side, five C18 bays with doorway in 4th bay; all openings have raised surrounds and are now boarded up. Interior: The plan of the tower shows on each floor a large chamber taking up the whole eastern side, with short projecting wings on either side of the entrancecontaining staircase, smaller rooms and garderobes. Large pointed tunnel-vaulted kitchen on ground floor has fireplace with segmental arch. Hall on 1st floor has traces of C15 mural decoration. On east side, vegetable garden has walls c.15 ft. high around north and east sides, lower walls around other two sides. Pattern of flat pilasters and close- set gabled crenellations. Segment-headed carriage entry with panelled doubled doors, on east side. Cottage in north-west corner: irregular plan, largely single storey with 2-storey, 1-bay section in centre. 6-panel door and various windows including 6-pane sashes and 15-pane casements. Single-storey parts have gabled roofs, 2-storey part has shallow pyramidal roof. Tall square corniced stacks. West of this more walling in similar style, c. 150 yards long, broken near centre by another later C19 2-storey, 3-bay cottage with panelled door, sash windows and gabled roof, which is included for group value. , 2013-01-29 1986-08-22

Flanking sections have 18-pane dashes with 15-pane sashes above and eaves cornice. All windows in architraves set in shallow projections running the full height of the wall. Top entablature has flattened ball finials with spikes on swept bases flanking pediment and at ends of facade. Hipped roof. East front 2+3+1+3+2 bays; plainer detail, central Tuscan porch. To far right a 1-storey service wing with firebell in wooden bellcote on ridge. Interior; notable mid-C18 plasterwork by Pietro Francini, especially in the Saloon; also important contemporary woodwork. Simple but elegant Imperial stair. Renewed stone end stacks. Left return has blocked doorway with chamfered surround; small 2-light mullioned window to left. Stone stack carried on 4 corbels at present attic level and small chamfered window on right. Stone. Block with dials to south, east and west, carrying globe finials and set on a square shaft. The north face of the block bears the Ogle arms, the east is inscribed 'William Ogle 1703'. The west face of the shaft has inscription '12 a cloack at Cassapark Make' followed by a table of times in a number of cities across the world; the south face a series of figures and diagrams headed 'TABLE MOONSHINE'; the north further tables and a calendar with Zodiacal signs; and the east various geometrical figures. Brick quadrant walls link to angle pilasters and front wall of garden, on chamfered stone plinths which run to outer brick piers with moulded caps and large pineapple finials. Lower wall with shallow stone coping links outer right pier to south-west corner of Old Hall.
