It was part of the inheritance of his wife Gulielma Springett who lived there from 1676 till her death in 1693. William Penn also occupied the house during that period when not in America. He sold it in 1702 to James Butler who demolished it and erected another on the site, which was in its turn demolished by the Duke of Norfolk in 1806. The large barn and farm buildings which survive probably do not date from Penn's house but the early C18 mansion of James Butler. Red brick. Tiled roof. Stringcourse.
